See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.

Comfortable open plan single bar that has been fully refurbished over the past three years by the current owners. Bar has both a real fire and a wood-burner. Located on outskirts of this small village that is divided by the nearby Alton water reservoir (built 1972-78). A large popular garden to side of pub. Occasional live music and quiz nights. Social events & weddings also catered for. Themed food evenings and regular Sunday roasts. Games include local cribbage league matches and bar billiards. Petanque played in garden (March to August). Terrestrial sport on TV on request. Also currently stock about 90 gins. The owners are CAMRA members and the two beers they have on rotate, generally avoiding Adnams. Food times MAY be extended if the demand is there. Beers are usually from local brewers. In late-2020/early-2021 new signage was erected describing the pub as the "Wheatsheaf Beer House". The pub occasionally shuts for a couple of days if there is a big beer festival on near by, landlady often is a volunteer for Norwich in October for example, so do check our Facebook page if you have any doubts.

Food menu is currently reduced pending a new kitchen. Food times are currently uncertain.
